How does it work?

iPixel procedures ablate, or remove, the epidermis and use a higher-powered laser. The beam heats up the top layer of damaged skin, causing it to vaporize, and reveals a fresh new layer of skin underneath. New collagen is also stimulated with this method, and the skin tightens as it heals. If acne scars are deeper, the ablative laser therapy would produce the smoother texture and glowing complexion you desire. Because ablative skin resurfacing is invasive, it is necessary to have topical anaesthetic. Downtime of approximately 1 week is recommended afterwards because the damaged skin continues to flake off while the new layer of skin heals.

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients require 4-8 sessions. One session every 4-6 weeks depending on the severity of the skin concern.

Are there any risks & complications?

Unlike other harsh peels or other traditional ablative lasers, the iPixel treatment has virtually no side effects or downtime.

What is the basic aftercare advice?

Before treatment:

Avoid the sun 4-6 weeks before and after treatment. This also includes sun beds.
The use of tanning cream must be discontinued 1 week before treatment.
Do not use any harsh products on the skin 48hours prior to treatment (Glycolic/Retinol or acid-based products).

After treatment:

Avoid sun exposure & use sunscreen SPF 50 at all times throughout the course of treatment.
Avoid hot baths and heat treatments and treat the skin gently, as if you had sunburn, for the first 24 hours.

How long will the result last?
